Kim Contact Information: juhuhn@g.skku.edu Department of Systems Management Engineering Sungkyunkwan University 16419 Suwon Korea ***General Introduction*** The dataset contains the processed data of open-source level-2 TROPOspheric Monitoring Instrument (TROPOMI) nitrogen dioxide(NO2) measurements on the Mediterranean Sea area, retrieved by TROPOMI on board the Copernicus Sentinel-5 Precursor satellite. It is being made publicly accessible to facilitate the associated publications of Juhuhn Kim, to allow peer review, and/or to promote further research for other researchers based on this data. The information of associated papers will be available after they are published. ***Purpose of the test campaign*** The purpose of the data retrieval and processing was to analyze the NO2 concentration measurement statistically using unsupervised clustering method to see cross-sectional characteristics per location and its longitudinal trend. ***Equipment used for data retrieval*** The NO2 concentration measurement data are initially retrieved from TROPOMI on board the Copernicus Sentinel-5 Precursor satellite. These data are publicly available as open-source level-2 TROPOMI NO2 measurements via the Copernicus S5P hub (https://s5phub.copernicus.eu). The data in this dataset is the processed version of such data. ***Methodological information*** The dataset is regridded, day-averaged, and provided by Airbus Defence and Space Netherlands. That is, all irregularly gridded L2 data is interpolated on a regular grid defined in World Geodetic System 1984 (WGS84). In addition, if the same measurement pixel is available with valid data from a different point in time on the same day, the result contains multiple contributes of the same weight but with different scaled values, such that time averaging is performed as well. ***Description of the data in this data set*** The file is generated by NETCDF4 data model, and provided with file format as HDF5. The dataset has four variables: nitrogendioxide_tropospheric_column; nitrogendioxide_tropospheric_column_precision; nitrogendioxide_slant_column_density; nitrogendioxide_slant_column_density_precision. Each variable is constructed in three dimensions: Time; Latitude; Longitude. The timestamp of data spans between December 1st, 2018(2018-12-01) and June 1st, 2020(2020-06-01), with its unit in days. The geolocation latitude spans between N32.99187 and N44.98392, with its unit in degrees north. The geolocation longitude spans between W11.98438 and E16.08438, with its unit in degrees east.
